| Full Immersion Class
This intensive two-and-a-half day class is for those who have an interest in whitewater kayaking. Paddlers will learn basic river running skills and the essential safety guidelines to get into the sport. Class includes an evening pool session and two full days on the water. All gear provided.
The first evening will be spent at Juniper Swim and Fitness Center. We will discuss boats, spray skirts, paddles, helmets and safety equipment. We’ll then get into the pool for more practical instruction on how all this equipment is used.
On Saturday, the crew will move onto the Deschutes River behind the shop where you will practice your newfound paddle skills and focus on boat control. Boaters will also begin to develop a knowledge of how to “read” moving water and how to identify and safely negotiate river features like rocks, trees and rapids.
On Sunday, the class will be ready to transfer their developing skills to a real white water river. We will run Class II+ section on the McKenzie River near Blue River, Oregon. Get ready to have a blast while putting into practice all of your recently acquired river running techniques.
Full Immersion Whitewater Class costs $225.00. Call 541-317-9407 for more information.
For those wishing to further their skills after completing this course, a Full Immersion II course is available on demand. After learning to roll your boat, kayakers will move to a more active river to learn more advanced river running skills.
A second option after completing Full Immersion I is the Deschutes Intermediate Kayak school, a four day boating and camping adventure that is all about developing your paddling skills.
